Thread: So, Earth Defense Force 2017 (360, PSV) looks amazing

  1. I cant help but think that they are making too many similar games in such a short time all on the X360.

Gears of War and Lost Planet and now EDF:X all seem like clones of each other in some form.
Dont take it wrong, I have and like GoW, and am enjoying the Lost Planet Online Demo quite a bit and will probably be buying the full game.

They're vaguely in the same genre, but comparing Gears of War to EDF is like comparing Metal Gear to Crimsonland.

  3. Geometry Wars and Crimsonland are more alike than comparing Metal Gear to them...

  4. Yeah, EDF is pretty much a balls out action game. GOW is more tactical, not much comparison in game design or gameplay, other than the fact that they both have guns.

No idea how accurate the release date of March 20 is, but usually if Gamestop is just guessing at a date they'll put it at the first of the month.

  6. Not too bad. $40, too, nice.

The testers at D3 estimate this will take you about 75 hours. There isn't any online co-op to extend the life even further, but if you have a friend you can play through the entire game on the split screen with them. You can take it even farther with the included battle mode which allows you to square off against another player in a death match.

Oh what the fuck? Looks like I'll be saving myself $40.

EDF2 on PS2 was amazing even without co-op. This game is still day one for me.

Fuck this shit. This is the same crap we saw with Lost Planet. I'm not playing through the game 4-5 times just to get some crappy 50 point achievement.

Add that to the lack of online play and that tells you that you'll probably blow through EDF 3 in about 10 hours.

And yet you played through 100 Arcade levels in M:UA?

What I mean is, if the game is good enough, isn't playing through a few more times not as bad?
