Anyone know if a US 20GB HDD will work on a Japanese Xbox 360?
I ask because I just preordered the LE Japanese Blue Dragon Core System Premium package at play-asia.com, and I have a $100 Best Buy gift certificate (that I got for free from my credit card!) that I want to use to buy a US HDD. I read that you can use the Asian 20GB HDD on a US Xbox 360, but I'm not sure if there is any region coding or whatever on the US one. I really hope it will work, as it will save me $100.

The only game there is RR, and not only is that not a huge draw, but the 360 had one at launch as well. I wish people would stop defending their bullshit as if it gives them bonus F-chan points or something. They don't want American electronics. End of.

You forgot about Gundam. Every Gundam game sucks, but they wouldn't make them if nobody bought them.

Gundam games aren't really that huge though. It's like Ridge Racer level. But yeah, I should have counted it. I think the point still stands though. DoA is bigger than both of those (or rather, was, but then when it became an Xbox game, Japan stopped liking it).

Yeah, it's always some excuse. The good news is that I don't care about how big a system is. If it can fit in my place, then cool. The bad news is that the PS3 is piece of shit.

Not to mention there's a Gundam game coming out for 360 as well. And yeah @ diff's comments. I can't count how many times I read or heard, "The Japanese don't want the Xbox because it's big, black, and American."

If they buy the PS3, then we'll know why they didn't buy the Xbox and won't buy the 360.

Because it doesn't have s**t for games that Japanese gamers know or care about, and the two big ones that everybody are tossing around (Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey) are nice, but they aren't familiar games and aren't enough to "save" the console in Japan.

Remember the Dreamcast? It was great hardware and had great games and it was fun and the kids enjoyed it. Except most of the games were new properties that didn't have a fanbase yet, or sequels to games that were never hugely strong. Meaning, the PS2 had the Final Fantasies and the Maddens and all of the names and games that people love, and it trounced the Dreamcast.

Same thing is happening here.

I don't see how that changes the argument at all. You just restated that the Japanese will buy the PS3 instead of the Xbox 360 for no other reason than it's a Japanese company. It doesn't change the fact that they'll lap up the PS3 even though it's "big, black, and ugly." Way too big for your average Japanese home I think is what they said about the Xbox.
