I paid 200 microsoft points (I guess that's $2.50 in human money) to max out my character in Tiger Woods today. How do you guys feel about that?
Traditionally, I coulda done it with a password (probably released in a month or two), or I coulda done it myself, and both of those methods are free. But, I didn't. I guess it's because I've been hardcore into Tiger Woods since '04 and I didn't want to work my way up from retarded trash ape to actual golfer AGAIN. I just wanted to play the damn season, and I want to be able to use my created character in offline multiplayer and have him actually hit the ball straight.
In all, I'm really glad they put that option in there. I know that with my ten hour work days, and lots of other fun games It'd be a really long time until I could max my guy out PLUS to improve your stats you have to play mini games (like 7, which is a game a lot like HORSE or whatever) against CPU opponents who take their sweet ass time hitting the ball.
There were also options to unlock/own everything in the pro shop for 300 points (I didn't), unlock all courses for 200 points (I did), and unlock Sunday Tiger Woods who is EXCLUSIVE to the Marketplace for 240 points (I didn't).
If you were Tiger Woods fans, what would you do? What if PSU gave you the option to start at level 10 or 20 and it cost 200-300 microsoft points? Would you do that? Are there any games/genres where you WOULD pay to progress?

Most of these games look pretty solid. Gears of War, Lost Planet, Forza 2, Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Bioshock all look like worthwhile games to me. I just don't see how you can really complain about the line up at al; especially compared to that of the PS3 or Wii.
I'm annoyed that the online aspect of Tiger Woods 07 costs an extra $2.50. I'll work my single-player golfer up the normal way, thanks to this being the first Tiger I've ever bought, but there's no way I'm taking my "real" character online when everyone I'll play against is completely maxed.

I would/will do the same thing. Fuck spending months and months just to be competitive with jobless idiots who can spend all day working on their characters. That was a really frustrating aspect of online play, coupled with lagging servers and cheats to get clubs that haven't been earned.
Online play is just Xbox Live, but seeing as you'll be playing against everyone in the world's maxed-out character, it might as well cost $2.50. There's no way you can take a character you've built up yourself online, they'd get crushed. So, if you want to compete, you've got to throw down the cash to get the maxed stats. It's not the same as online requiring a one-time $2.50 fee, but it's close enough that there's no difference.

I don't see how anyone can say "Fuck Gears of War. It's the same old shit," but say they are looking forward to Lost Planet. Judging from the videos, they're essentially the same type of game (shoot everything). Strip away the atmosphere and a couple of gameplay features (taking cover, grappling hook) and it's pretty much the same (again, judging from the videos).
