Sure $500/$600 is pretty steep, but if they can deliver a game console that also plays Blu-Ray movies out of the box; I'm more than interested in it.

Well, you already know it does that much, so I'm not sure what there is to wait and see on. If the blu ray player is a major point of interest for you, the value's there with PS3.

I actually enjoyed what I played of Warhawk, as E3 demos go. I had no idea this on foot stuff was in there until just a second ago. I particularly like when the guy's facial expression goes from tough-guy sneer to arrogant smirk, as if they can't decide which stereotype to run with and just do both.

If you want to feel better, go look at screens/footage of Warhawk's on-foot mode, then go play the Lost Planet demo again. I defy you to do it without laughing.

oh, and strider, for me, its sony's attitude, i didnt care about handheld before sony started acting smug about the ds not even being competition, so now i revel in each bad bit of news for the psp, just because sony was acting like assholes. and they have been as stupid and cocky with the console too. the next sony system i buy will follow kaz's resignation, hes more irritiating than itagaki and yamaguchi combined, and less funny.

It's a wait and see, because MS is offering an HD-DVD player add-on for the 360. If it's less than $200 and the 360 has a much better lineup of games going into 2007, then the 360 could be the console of choice for me.

I don't think it'll be less than $200. There are two rumours going around - one is that it'll be $199, the other that there'll be a black 360 with a built in HD-DVD player, TiVo and a 250 gig hard drive, going for $650.

If I were to to hazard a guess, I might think that MS would release the stand-alone HD-DVD player as a unit with the larger HDD & TiVo. That would make it much more desirable as a media server. The premium 360's 20 gig HDD fills up really fast.

They'll be showing the player at X06 at the end of the month, so you'll know by then. Although I still think that in spite of initial difficulites, blu ray will be the better and more viable format long term.

I'm probably going to get Wii first, then 360, then after the price has gone down a lot, PS3. Having a Blu-ray player right now just isn't important to me, and by the time that I do want one, stand-alone players that will be better and probably more reliable than the PS3 will be more reasonably priced.

Plus the games haven't really wowed me. Exept MGS4.

If the Blu-Ray player doesn't support 720p, then the HD-DVD player will be more enticing to me.

I have 2 Sony Wega HD capable televisions, but they max out at 720p/1080i. If Blu-Ray doesn't support that market, then Sony has really left out a large amount of early HD adopters.
