Hoegarrtens is probably the best thing ever
I read through this entire thread today while I was at work (yes there is that much free time) and figured I'd contribute when I got done with my drinking for the night. Got out of work at 9, home by 9:15, started with 3 different Magic Hats that I got from a Springtime 12 pack sampler. Pretty good shit in there. After that I downed half a liter of Bicardi, and now I'm finishing off with my second Magic Hat Circus Boy. Pretty good beer if no one has tried it, reminds me a bit of Blue Moon but with a little more fruit taste. And for the record, everyone here seems to have a good grip on beers and liquors, Bombay ftw and Hoegarrtens as well. I'll relay a story of that tomarrow, but for now it's time to pass out (hooray for work in another 8 hours). Last thing, I'm surprised theres not a lot more drinking going on with the people in this forum, right now it seems Josh would be the only person I could hang with. 1 liter of vodka a day = teusday. It's on.
Hoegarrtens is probably the best thing ever
I'd say you're pretty much on target. I didn't really dig Circus Boy last time I had it though. Saw it when we were grabbing a few cases of cheap shit so I grabbed a six pack and split that with a friend before we got the rest. Definitely not my favorite Magic Hat offering, but not undrinkable either.
Blue Moon gets shit on a lot, and really, when you have access to a better beer in the style it aims for, it's understandable. However, I've been in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, where Allagash White is most definitely out of the question and nobody even knows Hoegaarden, and I've been able to get Blue Moon, and it's always decent. I guess that's what being brewed by Coors affords you. Not at all a bad thing.
I drink a lot less than I used to now, which is largely due to the fact that I'm presently unemployed and weed lasts me longer on less money. When I cash my first paycheck of my next decent job, I'm getting a bottle of Laphroaig to celebrate not living like this anymore.![]()
I'm now interested in trying this Circus Boy. Obviously, anything Blue Moon-like is okay in my book.
I've been a fan of Blue Moon since I was introduced to it while working at a nice bar (the kind of place that serves glasses of wine for $12 a pop), and since then my current girl introduced me to Hoegarrtens, which, for some reason, I honestly didn't enjoy as much as Blue Moon. I don't know what it is, I can tell that Hoegarrtens is the better beer, but for some reason Blue Moon has stuck with me as a personal fav, maybe because it was the first 'belgian white' I had tried. Since reading though, I really want to try that Allagash white, but I've never even heard of it until reading about it today in this thread. As far as the Circus Boy goes, I'd actually rate it above Blue Moon in terms of taste, it really is a deliscious beer. And since I seem to STILL be awake despite having to wake up early, I'm gunna go have the last one and watch and episode of Family Guy.
OOOOOOH BTW. I really am not new the the drinking scene, but that reminds me. In one episode, Brian, being stressed, walks into a bar and asks for a Vodka Stinger with a Whiskey back. Can anyone tell me what the fuck that entails? I've wanted to try it, but I'd feel kinda stupid asking a random bartender for said drink 'because I saw it on an episode of Family Guy'.
*edit* jesus christ I've had a lot to drink in 5 hours, pretty drunk, might skip that last Circus Boy for the sake of not puking all overmyself.
I'm goin on a liquor run today when I get out of work before band practice, does anyone have a good suggestion for a nice vodka (Svedka and Goose are my ussual choices), a burbon/whiskey (had Knob Creek last week, so something else), and a good rum (I drink Bicardi like water, I need to try something else)? Much appreciated.
See if you can find the vodka Dogfish makes. If you like Goose it should be right up your alley.
