As far as Soul Cradle, I don't get the Dragon Force vibe from it. It reminds me more of Fire Emblem/Langrisser with traditional turn-based on a grid combat, with cutscenes for actual attacks.
Never played Fire Emblem/Langrisser so I can't compare. To me, it looks like there's a little bit of both grid-based battles and Dragon Force-esque army vs. army battles. That part where that line of soldiers goes to attack that one huge guy totally reminds me of DF. I'm thinking the battle area is grid-based, but when you go to attack an enemy (each character icon looks like one group of troops), it goes into a Dragon Force/Ogre Battle mode where you command them what to do. Of course, I'm just guessing, so we'll see when more details come in.

PS: Dragon Force is not awful. Then again... My name says I'm biased.

  2. OT but I really do not understand why Dragon Force is liked at all. It's a game that you watch more than you play:

    - On the overworld, your options are extremely limited. I was hoping for more interaction like how in KOEI games you can send assassins to rival nations or build up your economy or whatever. But nope.

    - Fighting is based on a rock-paper-scissors style of play except your entire troop consists of one type. Wow! What a deep game!

    - Battles play out in real time, but you have very little control over your troops. Changing formation in real time has little bearing over the results of the battle, if at all. The only things that might help is your general doing some special moves.

It is the least strategic "strategy" game I've ever come across. I get the feeling that the people who like it are more interested in watching 100 vs 100 battles than playing a game.

"Tactics simulation". Those games are supposedly "simulating" the table strategy games.

  4. Last week, N1 announced Grim Grimoire, a new PS2 game developed in collaboration with talent from Atlus of Japan's Princess Crown team. N1 has also opened the site Lujei Piche to showcase their next two titles scheduled for release in 2007.

The site was updated with movies:

It looks like a RTS rather than strategy-RPG. Awesome artwork!
