Yes, and the $400 and $600 systems pack a hell of alot more tech in them than the Wii does. You think Nintendo is taking a loss on the Wii? I sure don't. They should be though.
Regardless of expectations I'm not paying $250 for a GC with minor upgrades and a motion sensing controller. It's bullshit. And I was genuinely excited about the Wii.Why people expected $200 after they said "it won't exceed $250" (or less, one moron at Something Awful was convinced it would be $150) is beyond me. Nobody should have been blindsided by this.
No they shouldn't, because unlike Microsoft and Sony this is the only market they're in. It would make absolutely no sense for them to work that way, outside of "everything should be mine for $1 each" internet logic.
Don't want to buy it? Fine. But the price is a reasonable one.
I like the Wii channel stuff a lot. It's not a selling point but it's kind of neat. I really like the whole aesthetic, it's much nicer than the other consoles.
Also, I'm underwhelmed by about 85.6% of the games shown for it thus far.
You're telling me I can get this with only one controller for $250? Fucking sold.

As a consumer I really don't care about Nintendo's bottom line. I should care that if I pay $400 for a 360 or even $600 for a PS3 I am getting more than my money's worth, but if I spend $250 on a Wii I am not. I am not an investor. I don't work for Nintendo. Remind me again why I should put Nintendo's finances ahead of my own?
Also, everyone loves to point out how much money Nintendo has stashed in the bank. Maybe it's time they stopped hoarding and started spending.
For you, maybe. Not for me.Don't want to buy it? Fine. But the price is a reasonable one.
They could at least put some effort into making it look better than a shareware demo.
