Thread: The Nintendo Wii international press conferences thread

  1. I predicted pretty much this exact situation in the E3 thread, so since then I've been prepared to spend 250 for the Wii. I just wish they'd announce if it came with component cables or not.

  2. Has the official US news besides the leaked article even been revealed yet? You may still be in luck!

    No. 9am Pacific.

  4. Not too surprised. I was anticipating either $200 for a bare-bones system or $230 with Wii Sports... if it comes with a second controller (or the classic controller), it's golden, that's a solid value. If not, eh, $20 off from my expectation, whatever. A little sucky but far from a dealbreaker.

Hopefully there will be some cool promotion when Mario Galaxy is released. I'll probably pick one up then.
I mostly AWTP. I'm going to get one, but it's not going to get much playtime given that launch line up (if it stays the same, which it most likely won't). Wii Zelda doesn't interest me at all, so there had better be something good to go along with the console, or my 360 will keep getting all the love.

  6. I'm pretty disappointed by the Virtual Console.

If the games had achievements, enhanced graphics, and online play (with leaderboards) then I think those prices would be reasonable. But, all we're getting is a glorified emulator (unless there are some things that haven't been announced).

  7. Western consumers will think "oh, well a Core 360 is only $50 more."

The Core 360 shouldn't even exist.

    Does it even sell?

  9. System is too expensive, and VC is lame. Does anyone really care about paying more money to play Sonic 1 and R-Type and hasn't gotten one of the bajillion compilations and/or MAME? Yea, its good for noobs but we aren't noobs.

And then they'll get it home and find out they have to spend extra to save games or do anything worthwhile online.
