Eh, I think the Cadmius arc and a few other episodes of JLU handily beat it.

I thought the GL origin was actually far too drawn out for too little payoff. All Hal actually did as GL was to throw Crazy Deus ex Machina Dino Island into space, which, while a pretty major contribution in the scheme of things, wasn't all that exciting a scene, certainly not enough to warrant all the origin buildup we got. I mean, if you're gonna do a fairly high-budget flick that focuses heavily on GL's origin, at least have the decency to animate some cool ring power visuals that couldn't be conveyed as well on a comic page.

This was really, really good, IMO. Next paycheck I'll pick up the Absolute New Frontier HC.

I'm not a big fan of the JLA series (they were comic stories lite mostly, less taste less filling), but this was pretty neat.

Saw that on the DVD! Looks... boring. Don't like it. (this might contradict my first impressions somewhere else, but directly compared to the New Frontiers movie, it's pretty standard lookin' anime stuff IMO.)

I'd love to be suprised by a quirky Bebop-esque thing, but I don't think that's what they're doing here. There's some really neat looking shots in there, at any rate.

It's basically the Animatrix: Batman Edition. I'm sure it won't all be great, but there'll be a few gems in there.

Not really digging the villain designs, I'll admit. Odd that they seemed to limit them to the b-list villains.

I really, really like that shot of the girl running down the street right around 9:33.

If I had to guess, they're doing the "don't use anything we might need in a movie sequel" route to be safe, ala the Spider-Man videogames.

I liked this. There were a few things here and there that could have been better. The big one to me was exactly what Bacon describes below.

For me it was just a lot to go through for the little bit of screen time that we actually see Hal as GL. Its all of maybe 10 minutes tops. I also think it could have been longer, I would have totally been for this being 90 - 105 minutes long. Overall it was pretty damn good. Completely kicked the shit out of the Superman/Doomsday one. No idea why they could do this so well, and that one was sooo fucking awful. I know I'll probably get shit for this but I would LOVE to see a Kyle Rainer (spelling?) GL movie like this.
