Thread: Let's Discuss: Bubsy the Bobcat

  1. Let's Discuss: Bubsy the Bobcat

I'm too lazy to write my own recap so I'm just gonna link to Hardcoregaming's summary:

I remember EGM was hyping this game up back in the day, and I almost preordered it just to get the Bubsy shirt, which was nothing more than a white shirt with an exclamation mark on it. I ended up just renting the game and at the time, it wasn't so bad I thought. It wasn't Mario or Sonic but it got the job done. I didn't beat it back then, but nowadays I have no real desire to play it for more than 2 minutes, even on an emulator.

The only other game I played in the series was Bubsy 3D. I think it was on a PSOne demo disc...but yeah this one was pretty horrid.

    Thoughts?

  2. no

  3. Found the idle animations hilarious, the game unplayable.

  4. I liked Bubsy.
I hated slipping off narrow platforms and ramming into random enemies.

  5. BUBSY 3D 4 LYFE!

    Eat a bag of dicks.

  6. The character sucks. The game, at least the first one, was a totally servicable, if generic, platformer that I had a lot of fun with.

  7. It's a terrible platformer when compared to Super Mario Bros. 3 or Sonic. It's a terrific platformer when compared to Mohawk & Headphone Jack

If there's one thing I appreciate about the PS2/XB/GC generation, it is that the platformer genre has been reduced to niche status.

Sadly this looks more appealing to me than Syphon Filter.

Honestly, they were twice as many good platformers this last gen than the 32/64-bit gen. Psychonauts alone justifies its genre.

But 3D platformers aren't even the same kind of game as 2D platformers. I hesitate to call many of them platformers even.
