I'm too lazy to write my own recap so I'm just gonna link to Hardcoregaming's summary:
http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/bubsy/bubsy.htm
I remember EGM was hyping this game up back in the day, and I almost preordered it just to get the Bubsy shirt, which was nothing more than a white shirt with an exclamation mark on it. I ended up just renting the game and at the time, it wasn't so bad I thought. It wasn't Mario or Sonic but it got the job done. I didn't beat it back then, but nowadays I have no real desire to play it for more than 2 minutes, even on an emulator.
The only other game I played in the series was Bubsy 3D. I think it was on a PSOne demo disc...but yeah this one was pretty horrid.
Thoughts?

Found the idle animations hilarious, the game unplayable.
I liked Bubsy.
I hated slipping off narrow platforms and ramming into random enemies.
BUBSY 3D 4 LYFE!

It's a terrible platformer when compared to Super Mario Bros. 3 or Sonic. It's a terrific platformer when compared to Mohawk & Headphone Jack
If there's one thing I appreciate about the PS2/XB/GC generation, it is that the platformer genre has been reduced to niche status.
