Clear indication that you're not even reading my posts.

    I said exactly that. Twice.

I wasn't implying anything, and I went on to explain what I meant. Sure, you can intrepret it however you want, but I clearly defined what I meant by my comment.

No, there's no other way your narrow view of me could take it.

    lol.

With Gradius V alone, Treasure deserves some faith here, I think. All of their previous shooters were fantastic.

Why do people instantly think "stretch panic" when someone mentions Treasure?
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

I think the puppet on the right supports my views.

Well I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking.

That is not an attempt to say "It would be nice if...". I don't care what you say your point is now, what you said was something completely different.

Anyway, the nice thing about a forum is that everyone can read exactly what you said, so I don't really need to harp on it any further. If you say you see it my way now, that's good enough, I suppose. We'll leave it at that.

I am, but that's not even the point. This could be by any developer and it would still be retarded to judge it based on zero information.

IBTN. Treasure's track record, though a bit bloated by fanboyism, means something.

  7. I agree with Gozen about making this new Treasure shooter an XBLA title (I'm assuming that the title is a 2.5D or rails shooter). If it's a high-score type game, then it naturally fits within the XBLA realm due to the Leaderboards infrastructure.

I don't believe 2D shooters sell well in the United States--I'm guessing that the sales figures for Gamecube Ikaruga and PS2 Gradius V weren't that high. I fear that if this new game goes to retail, it will suffer a similar fate. But if it goes to XBLA arcade, it will get MORE exposure, especially to people who normally would avoid the genre. And the video-game realm is going to talk about it constantly because it's an XBLA game that isn't a port of a 10-year+ old game.

Considering that it will cheaper to put this game on XBLA than trying to sell this game at retail to a usually disinterested audience, Treasure has a good chance of making some good money if they go the XBLA route. And as Gozen said, this new Treasure game could open up the eyes of other developers and make them realize that they don't only have to port old games (or Flash games) to XBLA.

  8. So should, say, a next-gen Panzer Dragoon Orta or Sin and Punishment sequel be relegated to an online-only $10 release? That seems silly. We're not talking about arcade ports, here.

Maybe not $10, but online distribution is a better market for those titles (and that genre) than retail. Look at the sales numbers for Orta. Hell, Nintendo didn't even bother to bring Sin & Punishment to the U.S. even though the game already had an English option (and the N64 had a dearth of games).

Psychonauts didn't do too well in retail, but now it's going to be offered via the Steam service, and I'm sure it will sell well there. I don't see why the same thing can't happen for next-gen shooter titles.

My point never changed, I merely clarified it. But, like I said, you're going to believe what you want.

Exactly. On this point we can agree.

LOL, the nice thing about a forum is that there can be absolutely no speculation if it's not positive (or, more importantly, positive in your perception. I still say a 2D Treasure game on XBLA would be a good thing, not a bad one).

PDO is a bad example, horrible even. Its a series with a history of pushing the graphics of whatever system it is on (yes, I know the Saturn games look like shit now, but back in the day they were standard fair on the kiosks and everyone gushed over it). Orta was a first-gen Xbox game and was gorgeous, even today it looks great. Sin & Punishment, by contrast, came out later in the lifespan of the N64 along with other games that similarly looked about as good as you can on the N64 (which, really, come on..ain't gorgeous especially compared to PDO..Hell it's about on par with Panzer Dragoon).

Now, your second mistake is once again you automatically assume that this release on XBLA would be $10 garbage. That's based solely on your prickish opinion that somehow an XBLA release is demeaning to the game. What if the game was a full D/Lable release going for, say, $30? Think of XBLA more like Steam (I know, I know, you get what I mean) than just a hovel for little flash games and other crap MS is able to rope up for it.
