I have it on HD DVD (lol) and it looks like shit. I remember many people (probably in this thread) crying about how shitty it looks in HD due to the filters the film makers used.

Yeah, a friend of mine got me the blu-ray and I was amazed at how terrible it looked. I'm not sure whether 300 or Total Recall looks worse on blu-ray, each is a horrible transfer in its own way.

Sounds like the problems they ran into when doing the Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-Rays. While the show was recorded on film (which is HD), the special effects were only done in standard definition (reflecting broadcast TV at the time), so they had to do all new CG effects which they tried to keep as close to the quality of the original effects as possible.
