This is the US reinvention based on the HK flick Infernal Affairs + some of IA 2

Years ago, a powerful Irish mafia figure placed a small selection of his youngest, brightest men into the Massachusetts Police Academy as cadets. Their purpose is to eventually rise within the prestigious ranks of the city's police department, to serve as the eyes and ears of their boss. While somewhere else, a young cadet was assigned with an equally dangerous task: infiltrate the Irish syndicate headed by the man sending in his own to the Boston Police. Now, one cadet is an up and coming police official with a torn allegiance to his job and to the criminal mastermind that put him there. While the other cadet is the trusted number two of that man, only finding his professional duties are becoming blurred with his current state. But new clues have lead to unfortunate discoveries, when both sides realize they're being watched by the enemy. It's now all just a matter of time before the men assigned to find out whose the infiltrator, could come to a bloody end when someone's identity may be revealed.

Supposedly Scorcese did a badass job with this and its one of the best films this year, or maybe even in years. I believe this opens tonight

  2. I saw Infernal Affairs awhile ago and remember liking it, but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. To be honest I don't remember much of it at all. Terrific idea and I've seen that this is getting awesome reviews. I'll try and get out to see it this weekend.

  3. I've seen trailers for this at like the last couple of movies I've gone to. I'll probably see it Sunday/Monday.

  4. I'll see it tomarrow or monday

  5. I recently saw Infernal Affairs which I liked a lot--I was expecting a gun opera but it turned out to be something like "Heat" instead. I wonder how close they'll keep it to the original.

  6. I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time. The cast is outstanding, Scorcese is outstanding, and I cannot see this movie being anything but outstanding. I'm going to see it ASAP.

  7. I've only seen like 6 Scorcese movies, but I loved them all. I will see this.

Side note: I've seen Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, King of Comedy, Casino, and The Aviator. What Scorcese movies should I put at the top of the list?

Goodfellas and King of Comedy are my two favorites.

Definitely see Mean Streets and Last Temptation of Christ. Age of Innocence is good, too.

  9. The Color of Money. But before you watch that, you have to see The Hustler, which wasn't directed by Scorsese but is fucking awesome. Other than that you've pretty much covered his best.

I think Mean Streets has an awesome soundtrack and several good scenes, but didn't come together as strongly as it should have. Age of Innocence is probably the best movie I've fallen asleep to. I woke up a few times, thinking "This is a really beautiful movie" before going back to sleep.

You'll probably dig After Hours. Totally random and goofy dark comedy.
