I'd say the second one is useless, except for use in displays at conventions and such.

I can imagine the second one being adopted by universities for their large lecture halls and such. It would allow for a completely new teaching style; you could possibly have three-dimensional ampitheater style classrooms, with three dimensional images centered in the room.
