  2. PSX - At lauch, couldnt miss it for the world
Despair, did you get a PSX because it was a new system, or were you anticipating Tekken/Ridge Racer/Toshinden for it? At launch, I really couldn't justify dropping $300 (or was it $350?) for some racing games and fighting games. When the Mega Man series moved over to Sony though, that's when I changed my tune.

Also, notice that those Sony launch games had a very wide appeal to them... I think that's part of the reason why gaming went mainstream.

  3. Well, But ofcourse I got it for the games

At launch I picked up Ridge Racer, Toshinden, Raiden and something else, that I cant remember now. I had a good times with all those games, and when Tekken came out 2 months later, I got that as well, along with MK3.

...have you played spec ops?...your answer lies there...

  5. Hmm interesting topic. Atari 2600 and NES I had when I was a wee lad so I can't say I actually "wanted" them. But since I loved NES, all future Nintendo system were of course must purchases (Virtual Boys and 64DDs) aside. Genesis I got mainly for Ecco the Dolphin actually, and it was pretty cool, though I admit I liked SNES more. Then I played VF2 in the arcade, and right then and there I knew I had to buy a Saturn, even though VF2 wouldn't be out for it for awhile. PSX was pretty lame until FFVII came out, that was about the time I caved in. PS2 is pretty much a no brainer even though the games these days are pretty dissappointing. XBox I knew I had to have as soon as JSRF, so I grabbed that at launch too.

  6. Not all of them are listed.....

Turbografx- walk into Toys R US with money for Street Fighter 2, wha? I can get a Turbo with Splatterhouse, Aeroblasters, and Keith Courage for the same amount? Later sold it to support my SNES habit though...

    SNES- Castlevania 4

Turbo Duo- Lords of Thunder promo tape/ Dracula X

Saturn- Panzer Dragoon Zwei demo at TRU/ Legend of Oasis

Playstation- FF7 and Tomb Raider 2...and I hated both, should have went with third choice: Castlevania SOTN.

N64- Mario 64 demo at TRU. Got my N64 at launch at Target, decided 6:30 that morning I was going to buy the system. Target had 7 units, 25 people outside...beat everyone back to electronics.

Dreamcast- Crazy Taxi/ TGS footage of JGR and PSO

    GBA- COTM

You must have hauled some serious ass to avoid the mob! I hate these stores that always put their electronics section in the back. It's like all you need is some dumbass from the sporting goods area standing at the door with a starter's gun.

Hauled I did and proud to say I didn't need to punch or push to get back there, being a skinny bastard, that would have been a bad idea anyway.

I think the store could have handled it better, there were plenty of Grandmas that couldn't sprint. I honestly think the store employees got kick out of watching people scramble. *-neo

  9. DC= Shenmue. No lie. I saw an early vid of it and it looked hella promising. Of course, this was before Sega had AM2 split it in two...

    XBOX= DOAX. You damn right.

    NES: Donkey Kong
    TG16: Keith Courage/Legendary Axe
    SNES: Castlevania IV
    Lynx: California Games/Electro Cop

    Saturn: Gaurdian Heros
    DC: Sonic Adventure/Soul Calibur/Capcom 2D goodness
    GBC: Super Mario Bros remake
    NGPC: SNK vs Capcom
    Genny: Gunstar Heros/Contra Hardcorps
    Sega CD: Final Fight/Silpheed
    GBA: Firepro/F-Zero/Castlevania
N64: Landed in my lap. I never actively seeked one out. I like Doom tho'.
    Neo Geo: Metal Slug serries
PSX: DDR (yes, I waited that long to get one)
