Wow. That's so much cooler than the woman I got. The phone call took 40 minutes, and was the first time in my life I've ever screamed at somebody on the phone. She didn't know what the letter "L" was. She didn't know what an error was. She didn't know why she couldn't find prior record of me calling even though I told her 3 times I hadn't called before. She said the word "region" as "ration," and when I told her I lived in Ontario she asked me if I was sure that was a real place and told me it wasn't in her system (incidentally, Microsoft's national HQ is just down the highway from me).
It just kept going on and on - "okay, your town is lacbioo...." "No!! O, a, k, - there is no "C" in this word - V as in victor, I , L, L - "
"Okay, K, I, O, O"
"No! not 'O', 'L' - L like llama, Lima, love, lion"
"....O?"
"THERE IS ONLY ONE 'O' IN THIS WORD. AT THE BEGINNING."
"I don't understand."
"L, the letter L, it comes between K and M. Love, Lion, lalalalala, L!"
"....O?"
You know how when people tell stories, they always exaggerate and say "boy, I sure told them off, you should have heard it!" but in reality they were kinda polite still? When this happened, I was pretty tired, I'd been up for a long time, and I seriously lost it. I have patience for people with accents, living in this part of the world you have to, but this was utter incompetence. She simply shouldn't have been doing the job she had.
It was like that thing where the guy's trying to quit AOL and the jerk on the phone won't let him. Except with this it just went on and on for 40 minutes. I wish I'd recorded it so I could have put it on the internet.

Tis the season for giving, and gaming companies are starting to get festive about it. THQ has released a Christmas theme pack for Saint's Row ... completely free. How Bethesda is getting into the spirit. Mehrunes' Razor, a 250 point Xbox Live Marketplace add-on, is being offered for absolutely free starting tomorrow through December 31. The quest, which was big jump in quality compared to the infamous horse armor (which we're sure they should have packed in as a freebie as well), is a wonderful way to thank all the loyal customers who purchased Oblivion. We just hope more companies do this next year, since all the new consoles now have some kind of online option available out-of-the-box.
My 360 is only 3 days away, but here's the catch; I've only got an SD tv. It can accept component input, but it can't do progressive scan. I've been thinking about a CRT HDTV for a while now, and I'm wondering what kind of tv's everyone else is playing their 360's on.
