I got me a 360 (thanks to Gohron).

Dammit, I got a DRE when playing Gears this morning.
My brother's never going to go for returning this. Guess I'm going to suddenly disappear of Live one day while it gets sent to repair eventually.
Dont think this has been posted yet. Just saw this at engadget.
Pretty much means I am going to have to buy a new 360. I don't have a 1080p set right now, and my TV only has one HDMI slot which is being used by my PS3, but I do plan on getting a 1080p set by the end of the year. If HD DVDs start using that security feature that can only be used while using HDMI, than I am going to need that. The second Xbox 360 revealed: codename Zephyr

Ever wonder why Microsoft hasn't released an HDMI cable for the Xbox 360, or whether the AV port was really capable of digital out? Well, here's your answer: we landed pictures of what appears to be the second Xbox 360 -- the Xbox 360 v2, if you will -- codenamed Zephyr. (The original Xbox 360, if you recall, was codenamed Xenon.) The long rumored about and awaited update to the console won't just feature a new, cooler 65nm processor, it's also finally added an HDMI port for full digital 1080p pleasure, as well as a 120GB drive, just what the doctor ordered. The 120GB drive may or may not come bundled with the kit, we don't yet know, just as we also don't yet know how much a Zephyr 360 is going to run (we imagine it'll go for the same price as currently so they can keep up a little on their expanding margin). But our very kind Xbox insider seemed happy to let us know we'd be able to get them "soon."
$399 for Zephyr would be nice.... $299 for the current premium would seal the deal for me.
Well shit... if that's coming I guess I'll wait a little longer to buy a system.
Microsoft best be able to run HDMI off the current model or allow trade-ins or I'm going to be pissed. I'll buy an adapter or toss down a little money for an upgrade but having to buy a new system would be bullshit.
It is a pain in the ass, but its not like Sony hasn't done the same thing for years now. At least with the 360, there will be some major improvements. I doubt that Microsoft will do some sort of trade, but EB and Gamestop will most likely have a trade in deal. HDMI and 120gb hdd make this a must for me.
Releasing a system with under-the-hood improvements and releasing one with new ports are two totally different things. I really don't care about the cooler processor and the HD will definately be sold seperately as well so if I really want to I can always buy that later. As long as the HDMI port can be added to the older systems I have no issue.
