My 360 finally kicked the bucket. A coffin's arriving this week.

I'm glad MS makes the replacement process as painless as possible, but this still sucks.

So I called MS support today about my 360. (And, of course, while I'm on hold, still getting red rights, and as soon as the rep comes online, my 360 boots fine.) While talking to the rep, one of the things he mentioned was that I shouldn't plug it into any sort of power strip or surge protector, because the power cord already has one.

That CANNOT possibly be true, can it? I chalked it up to typical support "here's possible solutions why it's your fault and not ours", but I thought I'd ask to see if anybody has heard anything about this. How in the world would you be expected to plug a piece of technology directly into an outlet when there are going to be copious amounts of other technology needing power in the same area?

i think this has been a staple for game systems for the past couple generations. i could swear at the very least the ps2/gc/x gen was this way as well and had it in the manuals.

It had been acting up for months. It used to be that if I was lucky taking out the hard drive would clear the error, or leaving it unplugged for like a week if I wasn't. But then it gave me the one-flashing-light death knell so it was time for a replacement. I hope I get a reasonably recent refurb, I had just gotten back into Oblivion.
