The cancellation that I'm most disappointed about is Garou 2.
It was over 90% done, supposedly, which makes it all the more baffling that it got axed, especially considering the fact that the 33% complete SVC Chaos actually got published. Stupid playmore.
Another fighter that looked promising is Psikyo's fighter Daraku Tenshi: The Fallen Angel's. It was supposed to come out in 1998, so I doubt it would have gotten much attention given the competition at the time (3rd Strike, Garou, KoF 98, SFA3), but it had a lot of potential.
The graphics were some of the best in a 2D fighter at the time, with big sprites and detailed backgrounds, and the character designs were okay too. The character designer actually went on to develop character's for KoF, which explains why K' looks so much like Cool.
The gameplay doesn't stray too far from SF, but it's different enough to justify playing.
