lol @ people who buy Core units.
They break even on the premium bundle now, they still lose money on the core.

Let's not be fools about the subject. The PS3 would have sold like hotcakes at $600 on launch if the units were available. If any happen to pop-up in stores between now and Christmas, they'll fly off the shelves faster than a rabbit gets fucked. At $600. Thinking otherwise is borderline delusional.
Any system is going to sell out at launch if units are there it'll sell. What happens after launch is what is important. All though if Sony can't get their manufacturing shit together they may end up handing the market over to their competition. I have to wonder how long 3rd parties are going to wait on Sony to get a decent amount of units into consumers hands. If these production problems continue to persist I have to imagine a lot of 3rd parties are going to be looking to the Wii and 360.
For 360, actual sold numbers from Japan + Europe + America totalled under 5 million as of the end of October (numbers from organizations such as Media Create and the NPD)--no way there's another 2.5 million from the rest of the world. For PS3, Sony sold at least 80,000 in Japan (I believe they're up to about 130,000 now), and aimed to ship 400,000 to the US--those all sold out, of course, though I suspect there were fewer than 400,000 (maybe 250-300,000, based on EB/GameStop's presale cuts and the less-than-expected launch numbers in Japan). Nintendo said they'd have one million Wiis at launch and most reports suggest they had more--especially as they aim to have four million out by the end of 2006.
