But for skin color? Skin color doesn't really affect your likes and dislikes. Shit like BET just perpetuates stereotypes.

But making channels for different cultures? Why? Do you care about that shit when you watch tv? If or when you watch movies from India or china, that are subbed, would it bother you that they are culturally different than you? Or would you enjoy them for what they are, and see the universal human themes?
    You're dumb.

It doesn't take a 14-year-old to see the double standard in something like BET. If there was a channel that specifically played shows with white people in them and ran special award shows that honored only white people, it wouldn't last long before creating a shitstorm. Not that I think it shouldn't cause a shitstorm--I don't want a WET.

  4. Just try to ignore it.
    Boo, Hiss.

I do. I took BET out of my TV's channel cycle 'cause it's a pretty infuriating display of unnecessary discrimination.

  6. I'm not going to get in a huge debate on this, but here:

It's a channel that has shows that feature more black characters than ABC. Sometimes it's hard for kids to look up to black people when you only see them getting arrested on FOX. BET is pretty much unwatchable, but it's something... If you want to start some positive social change, start with the real media, cause BET is barely a network. Y'all need to focus on a bigger picture. I mean, is the spanish channel racist against Americans because they don't speak English on it?
    Boo, Hiss.

"American" isn't a race. And just because something is descriminatory, doesn't mean it's "racist." You can discriminate across a wide variety of topics.

It's pretty fitting that you ended your sentence with a word of English origin that was taken in and widely adopted by black subculture, and you've probably been exposed to black subculture so much you've adopted it. Isn't multiculturalism great. Rallies are not a celebration, they're a show of force. If you believe the way you celebrate a culture is to congregrate large numbers of a race, I feel truly sorry for you.

A true celebration of culture is inclusive; have you ever been to something like Oktoberfest, Chinese New Year, Christmas Parades, Mardi Gras, etc etc. You celebrate a culture by showing it to others, not by circlejerking and talking about how isn't it great you're all white. That form of pride is the seed of racism.
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.

I'm aware of that. I was making an analogy, not a social comment.

I think you're just looking for something to complain about.
    Boo, Hiss.

what the hell are you talking about? What about BET is there to look up to? What sort of leading humanity to a better tomorrow programming have they put on that channel that I've missed? Is there some sort of hidden message to jokes about girlfriends breaking your windshield with a brick that I'm not getting? The channle isn't something, it is the opasite of something.
