Thread: Black Friday

  1. I drove to see some family for the holidays, and realised I didn't pack socks or underwear yesterday. I had to go to KMart today to get some. It was busy but not terrible. Worst day of the year to need socks or underwear though.

  2. It's one thing to brave the crowds the day after Thanksgiving to fight for the best bargains for your Christmas dollar - it's another to bring along your newborn babies and small children into the madness as well.

I saw 2 baby strollers get sideswiped by speeding shopping carts, and there were dozens of "Code:Adam" pages all day for lost kids. WTF is wrong with people? In many cases, the parents were buying all the gifts for said kids right in front of them, so what's the point?

  3. I always see those Code:Adam stickers on windows of stores. They have something to do with lost kids?

Anywho, I went to Circuit at like midnight to see if they might get a few PS3's in to flip on eBay. No such luck, but I did sell my spot in line after they came by telling people they didn't have any. Made $50 and the dude who bought it was all the way in the back, and got himself that $475 TV. He was a happy fella'.
    Boo, Hiss.

    Don't tell anyone please.
There you see her, sitting there across the way...

  5. My girlfriends dad went to Walmart at 5AM and got a 52 inch HD TV for $400 and a co-worker of mine got to Best Buy and got a $300 laptop. They all had to wait in line like chumps, but still...

    Bit of trivia:
Code Adam is named after John Waslhes kid Adam Walsh. After he was murderd or something by a kidnapper, I guess there was a campaign for an eficient way of store people getting on one way to make sure that lost kids are found in a crouded store.

John Walsh is the guy that created Americas Most Wanted.

  7. I decided to keep my Black Friday shopping simple and just got some Best Buy DVD deals. The line was nothing, and actually smaller than the usual lines there on the weekend.

Yep. You cry code adam and stores go into total lockdown. Doors are shut and no one is allowed to leave. I had this happen once when my daughter decided to bolt for the toy section in a local department store. It was amazing how quickly the store staff reacted.

Wow, are you serious? Ive never heard of this and I work retail. Good idea and all but I can see some over reactive parents or some real assholes taking advantage of and abusing that...

  10. I went to Compusa after work to look for an ATI 9600 to do the swap/return thing on my defective one, and they werent too busy at all.

Did pick up Burnout 3 for the Xbox for $9.99 though. Spent all night playing it.
