I thought we were talking about how companies like Capcom and SNK rehash stuff all the time.

and there hasn't been a new street fighter game in what 7 years now?

And yet they're still releasing versions of them.

I'm not saying street fighter didn't have a bad case of the sequels in the past but it doesn't anymore.

Because their 2D department is shut down. For Christ's sake, they were using the exact same Morrigan sprite for over ten years, and she appeared in multiple series.

I think this is PART of my hate for the Smash Bros. series. There is nothing less thrilling than watching (or playing for that matter, as Finch mentioned) two of my friends play a round to see who can kill who 200 times or something ridiculous like that. There just isn't enough depth to Super Smash Bros. to keep me interested for more than ten minutes at a time. As a wannabe "Power Stone" type "fighting game" I guess its passable, but I still think Power Stone 1 & 2 are better than the two Super Smash Bros. titles.

If I'm not mistaken Andrew was talking about super smash bros and went on to say he would take that over capcom or snks rehashes. I think it's pretty clear he meant fighting games since that's what smash bros is. It would be strange and arbitrary if he was talking about all of capcoms games when comparing them to smash bros.

Yeah I was talking specifically about SNK and Capcom's fighting games as it pertained to Nintendo's rehashed fighting game (although there have only been 2, so that's really a mute point).

Although even in the fighting game world Capcom has a bad rehash track record. There's no escaping it.

Smash Bros. hate has to be based on something completely irrational.

What's irrational is all the people that clearly hate the Wii with a passion trolling the Wii threads. A game can't come up in discussion without either Stibbons, Joust, or Yoshi going "Game X is/was/always will be trash, play 360 instead". Can we get some moderation?
