Yeah, it's because there's no games for the system and that one was hyped more than any other save Zelda. Hype has that effect on lots of games.
Madden, Rayman, Trauma Center, Excite Truck, Monkey Ball, Call of Duty 3; all of those games are selling especially well on Wii. That makes 8 launch games that are performing well above traditional launch game expectations; hardly "no games for the system".

Is Zelda a Third Person Slasher?

One was ported for 3 years, the other for 2 months.

It won't revolutionize the game but it'll be fun; if the argument is "why isn't it on a system other than Wii?" I could make the counter-argument that every console game should be a PC game, since that platform offers the most control and hardware options. It's a Nintendo game so it goes on Nintendo's system, just like Microsoft's games go on Microsoft's system.
My point wasn't that it should be on another system. Nintendo can remedy this by allowing an option for conventional controls for those games that work fine without the Wii-mote. The insistence on mandatory Wii controls for games that don't require it is a big turnoff (especially on those cold days where you want to play something while wrapped up in a blanket). I'd probably try to track down a Wii this holiday season had Twilight Princess provided an option for conventional controls. But as it stands, I'm waiting for the Gamecube version.

That's a good point; I do like playing games under the covers as well. That's what the 360 will be for though. I've accepted that Wii is for playing games in a different way.

Is the focus on Zelda slashing? In Metroid you SHOOT stuff. You don't interact with characters, there isn't much in the way of REAL puzzles...you shoot stuff.

Only get Monkey Ball if you like playing through the single player levels -- the mini-games suck IMO.

I've always loved Monkey Ball single player and BB is certainly better than SMB2 in terms of level design. That said about halfway through I haven't seen anything to put it above the original. The jump mechanic is fun though.

My Xbox runs OoT just fine.

The focus of Metroid is not shooting; it's exploration, followed by puzzles and platforming. The shooting involves none of the skills associated with FPS'es (you auto lock-on to everything). You could remove the shooting altogether and still have a game.

I enjoyed the single player levels in Monkey Ball 1 and 2 (hated Adventure), but I have to admit the bigger longterm appeal for me was always the minigames. I've heard that a sizeable chunk of the 50 minigames blow, but does it at least have as many quality ones as Monkey Ball 2 did?
