This is another thing about the Wii that really irks me about the system and about Nintendo. Many Wii owners are scrambling to get component cables for their systems right now. Why? Because you're used to the sharper resolution of 480p, and it's hard to go back down to standard. Likewise, I've had my 360 for a while now, and I've been watching TV shows in HD for even longer, so it's really hard to go back down to anything less than 720p.
Nintendo's stubborn "we don't want to be like them" attitude has already held them back the last two generations, and it looks to hold them back once more. Resolution isn't something I wouldn't buy a system for, but given today's standards and where visual media is headed, it's almost unacceptable. Imagine the Wii not even supporting 480p. That's how I feel about it not supporting HD.
