English simplification of Hepburn romaji: Yoshi

There is no set standard for romanization. Kunrei and Hepburn are the most often used. But there's no rule that you'd even have to adhere to those, as ヨッシー = Yoshi demonstrates.
It was Yossy, not Yossi. And he claimed Yoshi was actually wrong, and that the character had a different name in japan.

    I invite you to try.

ヨッシー is Yossi (Long i) in Kunrei romanization. End of story.

  3. Yossi desu ne.

don't get the wrong idea, half <3 Tsubaki because he likes good games, and rally, i believe what he says. it's just that i think desu ne after anything is funny in a "the way my dad thinks he's funny but no one else does" way, until i remember those obnoxious girls on youtube.
    Donk

And NO Japanese person would pronounce that word "yossi," thus it's pointless if some form of romanization would spell it that way, because spelling it that way is dumb.

  5. Sticky!

If you can quote me on that or anything remotely similar I promise you I'll leave TNL. Forever. But since you can't, this proves who's the true asshole here.

See? It's statements like this what shows TNL's intelectual benchmark.

I knew I was going to love this thread.

    Also:

btw, he still owes me a giant "thank you" for proving what he couldn't in the Legend of Heroes thread.
    What?

  6. My opinion IS more qualified and relevant than any other here.
this proves who's the true asshole here.

It's intellectual; and shidoshi bangs Japanese chicks around the clock, he learned that shit through osmosis.

You're right, but what you did say was even dumber

So you were deliberately romanizing a word in a way that you knew to be wrong, counter to how the word is pronounced, and following no romanization standard that actually exists, and insisting that was somehow more correct. That's much stupider than just having a misconception about the name.

    Edit:

counter to how the word is pronounced,
Try to avoid statements on things you don't have a clue about. You'll thank me later.

  10. No, but I was wrong on that point, and will admit that.

It is true that you really made no attempt to justify the fact that you use "Yossy" with any semblance of an argument other than to be an ass. You later claimed in that same thread that "Yosshii" was correct (and in a sense, that one could be, though romanizing phoenetically in the presence of an official romanization is really stupid), but calling it Yossy Island is and forever will be remembered as the worst and least successful attempt at being an elitist Japanophile in the history of TNL.

So why exactly do you think you opinion is more qualified again? Because you ran a great site (insertcredit) into the ground? Because you think artifacting caused by dated display technology somehow enhances the visual experience? Help us dummies out that can't follow, Recap.
