Listen, I'm all for matches set on exciting rivalries and shit and I understand that they need the money matches to sell the PPVs. But I was listening to a UFC ad on the radio the other day and they were going on and on about how the winner of such-and-such match would "go up in the rankings!!" and I knew that meant shit based on the current landscape in the UFC. This shit is getting to be like WWE.

I mean, Diago Sanchez has won a shitload of matches and where's his title shot? It's not really fair to the guys who go out there and kill themselves for a newcomer to waltz in and get a shot.

he'll just come in and say "well who has diego fought worth noting"? unless he's one of those Sahchez fans. and like i said a while ago. Diego isn't "marketable" and will get overlooked until

    1) he is

    2) they have absolutely nobody left in that weight class

it's going to get worse with the two biggest companies under the same umbrella.

  5. i wouldn't mind seeing Tito Ortiz fight Rampage and Michael Bisping fight Rashad Evans before the Jackson v Liddell fight goes down. Oh well.. it's a great match-up.. I just hoped they would have let Rampage develop a bit more in the UFC. I'm hoping Jackson beats down Chuck.

I didn't realize how shitty that weight-class was. There are a couple stellar older fighter, a few decent newer guys, and tons of no-namers.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

He's on record as saying he isn't ready for a title shot yet.

Rampage has been fighting since 1999. Evans is the newcomer in this situation. Besides, what is the point of taking a guy who you know is really good and having him fight lesser talent? It makes sense to have guys with no major fights work their way up the ladder. You bring in a former Pride middleweight #1 contender and "make him earn his shot" and all you do is make your developing talent look like crap when they get their asses beat.

    UFC isn't the MMA world.

  7. Looks like Igor is coming out of retirement to fight Silva this weekend at PRIDE 34. Not a match I would have asked for but it's got potential.

If that's the case, then he's limiting his own career. He's one of the most talented fighters around and he's won a lot of matches.

I'm starting to see that, yeah.

  9. Don't forget: TUF starts tonight. (I'll probably forget since I'm old and always do.)

If he were in any other weightclass I would agree, but I think GSP would fuck him up so maybe he's right.
