I actually thought Silva was going to get caught by the mid-roundhouse because it seemed he expected a head kick from Franklin and ducked right into the kick. Almost brought back flashes of Herring's kick to Nogueira, but Spider came out fine as usual.
The Franklin / Silva fight was great. Franklin definitely had a better answer for the clinch, but still wasn't enough 'cause he still got caught by some knees inside. And when he backed out of the clinch he just ate precision punches. That flurry from Silva at the end was gorgeous--he was working Franklin up top and had the sense to still throw a crippling leg kick. What an awesome striker.
Sylvia / Vera was borrrrrrring. UFC needs yellow cards, stat. I blame both fighters for the boring fight. Vera basically gave Sylvia all the strategy he needed by jumping into a clinch with him where Vera got completely controlled. When Sylvia saw that he could hump Vera against the cage without consequence, he did it. And even when Vera did turn the clinch around, he still just hung on and humped back.
There were parts of the fight that were good--like Vera's takedown, the strikes at the end of round two, and Sylvia's flurries scattered in round three. But the exciting parts totaled maybe 60 seconds of the 15 minute fight.
Sylvia is the most boring, lethargic fighter on Earth.

Silva is awesome, but if Zuffa ever decides to stop hiding Paulo Filho in the WEC, Anderson will be in a lot of trouble.
I think Randy's only chance at beating Fedor would be by cut, cause Fedor always gets cut and the addition of elbows will exacerbate the problem. I still think Fedor would smash him though. Hopefully we'll get to see it soon enough.

Yeah, I keep wondering what the hell is going on with Filho. He was part of Silva's training camp and he almost fought Franklin a few months ago (since his other opponent - can't remember who - tore his ACL) but Yushin Okami drew the fight instead. I hear a lot about Filho but have yet to see him in action.
I saw a special on SpikeTV where Silva was training in a Venom t-shirt. He's cool.
So, is he as unstoppable as everyone paints him to be, or is it just that the caliber of opponents he's been facing aren't that impressive? I've never really thought Rich Franklin was that amazing or anything, and Silva had some trouble with that guy who won last season's TUF which I thought exposed him a little.

he's very good. it's just that most people are either good at a distance, or good in close and he is great at defending both. he's got the clinch and strikes up close and nasty kicks for distance fighters. until somebody can just rush in, grab him and slam him (while being pegged) i don't see many giving him trouble. who's left in that weight class? Leban?
