Thread: Official MMA Discussion Thread

  1. Ray Mercer and other assorted grubs are not PBF, he's smaller and faster. In fact nobody is as fast with their hands as he is. I think he'll adapt just fine.

Yes Pacrappa, we will bet 100 dollars on his debut fight.

10 bucks say Pretty Boy wipes the floor with anybody in his weight class, any takers?
You're kidding, right? Maybe I'd give PBF a puncher's chance if he actually had KO power, but he's generally a 12-round decision guy, Hatton fight notwithstanding. It would be moot anyway once someone takes him to the ground, unless he's fighting an obvious jobber.

I think this is a nice PR move to bring some more attention to Cuban's HDNet and the MMA broadcasts he'll have on there. There's no way I expect Floyd is even taking this seriously, nor should any of us.

    I'm saying one leg kick.

A buddy at another forum summed up this story nicely:

"Is it just me or is the current nonsense surrounding this complete non-story and blatantly Z-Level publicity stunt about Mark Cuban and Floyd Mayweather pretending the latter might actually appear in an MMA fight on the former's rinky-dink HD TV station indicative of how gullible so many hardcore MMA fans ands 'journalists' actually are?"

If he's never trained wrestling and/or jiu jitsu he doesn't stand a chance against probably anyone at UFC level.

  5. Speak of the devil, I just saw an HDNet MMA commercial stating that Fedor will be fighting (or appearing?) on New Year's Eve. Now that's timing.

  6. That's the Yarennoka show. http://yarennoka.com/ Despite the JZ/Aoki fight being off, it's going to be totally insane.

I don't find it amazing that people still believe this.

I DO find it amazing that a person who has even a basic understanding of MMA could believe this.

Watch this IMO (keep your sound on also):

(Do not read any of the comments though, holy poop)

  8. Hey that's an oldie but a goodie! Yeah PBF would need to spend lots and lots and lots of time on the ground before spending more time on the ground before even dreaming one night to someday think about trying to become an MMA champ in any weight he might be able to compete.

And I just read a blurb at graciemag with some sweet quotes that Fedor told sherdog (I never look at sherdog) in regards to the UFC's offers:

“I never met Dana White, never spoke to him on the phone, never exchanged e-mails. However, I did read a lot on the Internet about what he said in regard to me and Vadim. I also read e-mails that he sent to Vadim; all of his correspondence was very upsetting. The contract that we were presented with by the UFC was simply impossible, couldn't be signed -- I couldn't leave. If I won, I had to fight eight times in two years. If I lost one fight, then the UFC had the right to rip up the contract. At the conclusion of the contract, if I am undefeated, then it automatically extends for an as yet unspecified period of time, though for the same compensation,” said the Pride champion to Sherdog.com.

The Sherdog article further revealed Fedor’s rationalization of the contractual terms offered by the UFC: "Basically I can't leave undefeated. I can't give interviews, appear in films or advertising. I don't have the right to do anything without the UFC's agreement. I could do nothing without the OK from the UFC. I didn't have the right to compete in combat sambo competition. It's my national sport. It's the Russian sport, which in his time our president competed in, and I no longer have the right to do so. There were many such clauses; the contract was 18 pages in length. It was written in such a way that I had absolutely no rights while the UFC could at any moment, if something didn't suit them, tear up the agreement. We worked with lawyers who told us that it was patently impossible to sign such a document."

  9. Insulting imo
