Thread: Preacher is coming to HBO

But hey, even if it's worthless I'll still have the comics so if movies are the only way it'll get through then so be it. Might even generate enough interest to do an expanded version at a later time.
I agree whole heartedly. There's a lot of fat they could trim off to really tighten the movie into a trilogy or something.

  2. I refuse to believe this is ever going to happen and not because it would decimate the material--Hollywood has no problem doing that--but because, when it comes to put up or shut up time and money is needed, no studio is going to fund a movie where god is a child-like impetulant cunt and the main character is a Preacher that hates him.

It's just not going to happen.

  3. I think it could happen, but the possibly "offensive" stuff you're talking about might get altered to make it more palateable for annoying religious fuckwads.

  4. That's the entire fucking concept, Dole. There is no "Preacher" without the offensive religious stuff. It's sort of the point. There's no plot or motivation without it.

It would just be The 700 Club.

Yeah, like there's never been a movie made before that differed greatly from it's original source material and pissed off fans.

Once the rights are signed away, the suits can do whatever they want.

  6. I like to call those "movies I don't recognize the existence of".

  7. It's be a shame if Preacher became one of those.

BTW, if the movie does happen, I hope they change the ending. The comic's was kinda eh.

  8. As much as I liked him, Cassidy should've stayed dead. Again. The comic really was more about his relationship with Jesse than anything else. Having him wake up just kinda makes nothing happen by the end. Well, besides the destruction of heaven and hell, but whatever.

  9. End

It depends on if you think redemption and true change trumps redemption and sacrifice.

I agree though, the latter would have had more impact. Just like the death of another character somewhere in Antartica had more of an impact.

It's kind of pointless, now that I think about it, given that Cassidy never wanted to be human again and it wasn't like that was his dream that he never realized.
