Thread: A really weird question.

  1. A really weird question.

So, I inherited some thing from my grandmother (not dead, but moved into an AZ home), and was curious if anyone knew someone who was into antiques or auctions and things.

I got this vase that was apparently appraised at $10,000 made by some French company 'Burgun & Scherer.' I know nothing about this sort of thing, but this thing could pay off a credit card, and I want to sell it. I know it's not actually worth 10K, that's only the appraisal value, but if my wife and I could get some money for this, it'd be awesome.

    Anyhow, here's the description:
Burgun & Scherer, France, cameo, urn style. mythological greek figures, brown cameo carved and black and white enamel, printed in red on bottom "Verrerie D'Art De Lorraine", "B & S Co" and the "cross of Lorraine." Browns with black and white neck.

I don't really think this'll pan out, but I figured I'd give it a try. If you can provide someone who can get us some good cash for this, I'll give you a pretty nice finders fee.

PM me if you think you can help.
    Thanks.
    Boo, Hiss.

  2. If you got it from her, you should really see about asking, because there's always the likely chance she wanted you to keep it as a memento to remember her by. Should you sell it without her knowing, it'll leave a bed stain in your relationship.

Do you watch the program "Antiques Roadshow"? I'm not certain I remember where the events taking place for the program are, but they have real professionals that'll take anything you have and will be able to pinpoint it's origin and place a value that may sometimes surprise everyone.

"Your soul better belong to Jesus, mmm-mmmmm..... cause your ass belongs to me!"

  3. She doesn't care. She basically gave it to me to sell because she feels bad about treating me like shit all through growing up, but really likes me now.

As long as it's fine, then get rid of that debt.

"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  7. I'll trade you a PS3 for it.

  8. My dad watches that show like crazy. I find it hilarous when random old people bring some item on the show and tell these biiiiig long stories about. The the appraiser starts nit picking it and tells em it ain't worth shit or its fake.

  9. Yeah antiques roadshow is cool. I'd say Ebay or a public auction would be your best bet. Look up auctions in your area, that would be the best way to get top dollar for it.
