Honestly though, I never even heard of the "Firefly" series until the movie "Serenity" came out. I accidentally stumbled into seeing that movie with my brother and I absolutely loved it...which caused me to run out and by the TV box set the very next day. Its a great series, great movie, and hopefully a great game.

What you described would still beat most of the MMOs out there. Hell, just the "in space" part put it near the top for me.

EVE Online is an MMO in space. It's the grindiest grind ever.

This is going to suck. Just because the show was good doesn't mean it'll transition well into an MMO, especially considering this will most likely be a half-assed money grab since Fox realizes the best way to maximize profits from the small but hardcore established fanbase is to make 'em pay monthly fees for it.

I tried EVE, but I was just way too late to the party. With SWG and WoW, I was there day one, and that makes a huge difference.
