Thread: Armored Core 4

  1. I heard Armored Core 5 will be a kart racer.

It controls like any first person shooter, only with quick dashing. The response time is very fast. I wouldn't have been able to take down most of the Nexts I did without it. I have one design, Buzzard, that would never survive if it couldn't move very quickly.

Personally, I loved AC4. The latter single player missions are so much fun, especially on hard when it adds new objectives. The degree you can fine tune your AC borders on silly. It's also a lovely game to look at, focusing more on light and shadow than texture work.

  3. I played the demo tonight. I really liked it, and I haven't been interested in an AC game since PS1. I will be picking this up when I finally have my own 360.

Same here, the game moves a lot faster and is a lot more fun to play than any other Armored Core game to date. My main issues stem from the horrific control layout (which can be changed in the full game so that's a non-issue) and the terrible auto-aim. Is there any way to get a fixed cursor in the full game? My mechs kept targetting little shit that was way the hell off to my left or right when I wanted to focus on something right in front of me and it was rather annoying.

so to aim where-ever you please like GoW ect? On the PS3 you just hold the left analog stick down for 2 seconds and it switches to free aim.

as for auto lock on, it can also be changed depending on the fighting style you want. Close combat picks up targets more accurately closer, and range visa versa, it depends on hwo you want to customize your mech. A lot of the things that are probably annoying you guys in the demo just stem from it being standard parts.

You can turn off the auto-lock in the full game, though it helps to practice to put whatever you want to shoot at the center of the screen and put it in a hard lock. Yeah, there's no fixed cursor, but just like Gears without zooming in, you must develop 'the cursor of the mind' or some shit like that.

Well that's what I wanted to do, but the game was never targetting in the first place what I wanted to shoot at. I want to point and aim to lock-on.

Like Brian said, you can hold down lock to switch to free targeting, but personally I never used it. It's too slow when piloting a fast-moving AC. Against other ACs it would be a death wish, but for everything else it should work fairly well I suppose.

situational. I know in the mission where you have to take out the cannons on the platforms, i equipped a sniper cannon on my shoulder, and you just need to sniper the center beam from far away and the thing collapses. the farther away you are from those cannons, the better.

  10. Alright, tried it out and it wasn't completely what I wanted. What I was looking for was a combination, basically free-look that could lock-on to what was centered. It seemed like the game was built around lock-on so I guessed those two would go together, but it looks like I'll just have to get used to the regular auto-targetting system.
