Alien vs. Predator 2

Right before this thread popped up, I downloaded the Alien demo of the original AvP to check it out.

It was pretty much like I remembered it; shitty repetitive level that's really easy to get lost in and really really really sloppy controls.

But due to this thread I got the AvP 2 demo, and it's awesome. I should pick this up.

I played Alien VS Predator a lot on my old PC. It was a great game, miles ahead of anything at the time IMHO. Although very scary when you played a s a marine. Never did like the sequel, but it is always hard to get into a game that is 2-3 years old I think.

The aliens were pretty random in the first game and having to run through the level knowing one could pop out at any moment was the best thrill this series had going for it. It was a damn shame they had to take it out with this one, but I guess that's what happens when you put it in the hands of a lesser developer.

I'd hardly consider Monolith a "lesser developer."

Monolith's style was pretty straight-foward at the time the franchise was handed over. They made improvements in the right places, but lost the spirit that made it work to begin with.

I'm kinda wondering if Monolith still shares publishing rights with FOX for a 3rd game. If they don't, I wouldn't mind seeing this go back to Rebellion and continuing with what happened to that marine from the first game, considering Weyland may be after him.
