Thread: Dragon Quest 9 Official Thread

  1. Poor dog$. I hope you buy a DS and this and actually enjoy it, but sit online whining about it for YEARS to keep up appearances.

I've still never played a Dragon Quest game, and this doesn't really motivate me to any more than others have. The DBZ artwork has really turned me off and I tend to play RPGs in huge bursts, not prolonged 20-minutes here and there style. I can see this being great for some people but still piss of people who prefer their RPGs on larger screens.

Doesn't matter though. I won't be buying a PS3 any time soon and don't have immediate interest in the Wii, so this released on the DS is really the only plausible way I could play it even if I wanted to.

Buy one? Christ no. Life is too short for handheld games, and there is no amount of disbelief that I can suspend in order to enjoy them.

Besides, I have other fun things to spend money on. Like busted car fenders (thanks hit & run guy! $1700 of repairs is just what I wanted for Christmas!) and routers.

Probably, but oh well. Nobody owes anyone anything.

SE doesn't have to put DQ9 on a console, and I don't have to buy it wherever it goes. Lose-lose in this case, but that happens.

Well then can I politely ask what the fuck you were even doing in the latest Dracula DS thread?

"Um hey guys should I be content with having pissed some money away a while ago or should I go waste more."

You really needed the testimony and recommendation of others to buy a second handheld? You were fully capable of wasting money the first time.

  4. Final Fantasy XIII is always there to save the PS3.

  5. When you take video games as seriously as dog$ does, it's time to find a new hobby.

Early indications point to Squeenix taking a step back with XIII. I know it's early to tell but to go back to the old style battle system after the way the new battle system perforemd is just disappointing. :sigh:

    It'll still sell tons, though.

Eh, I think someone just needs to remind him that it's not 2002, and he's not posting on GameGo anymore.

It wasn't you; it was Reggie.

  9. Or he could not want to play his favorite series on a 3-inch screen, i dunno.

Not saying I'd flip out in his place or anything, but it's kinda understandable.

    DS 3D is asscream.
So your rationale is that if it sells huge it "should" be on a high powered system? This is poor logic. They can do a LOT of things with the "underpowered" DS that would be impractical on a larger system. I can't tote a Wii, 360 or PS3 around and do say, Monster Battles (which can be taken from DQVIII and implemented Pokemon style) with pals at work on break. The "gameplay" aspect, it being an RPG doesn't really matter because fundamentally it's the same game it's been since DQ1/FF1. They also have possibility of neat touch screen ideas and other stuff that Enix can think up. There's a lot of potential that the DS has that other systems don't AND it has retarded userbase + low development costs so it's a win/win/win for Enix.

    Essentially what you've said is,

It's a big budget game so they should focus on fancy ass gr/\F!x and sound and fuck other stuff because it's a big name title. Because we all know you NEED large amounts of video game horsepower and torque to make a good game.

Either that or you're just stretching to come up with more reasons to hate Nintendo.
