Bought.
Playing.
Bored.
Could be me at this point. Mayhap I've outgrown DQ. Last three I played -- 8, 4, and 5 -- were kind of a slog. Maybe it'll pick up. I do like Level 5.
I wish I knew about that slime hat! I would've bought this from Best Buy if I did! In other news, I'm only, maybe, an hour in (Just lost my wings and seem to be mortal now), but I'm really enjoying this so far.
Also, my character is a girl with pink hair, slight build, and mischievous eyes. I've named her Radishes.
Played it for almost six consecutive hours! I mean, it's DQ at its core but I love that sort of thing every once in a while and no other RPG does it quite like DQ. The sense of adventure, the lack of melodrama and bullshit Serious Business. I really like the smaller tweaks they've done, such as the recruiting party characters, character creation, and the aspect of multiplay. Very flexible that you can split up and do your own thing but miss out on team fights/experience if you do. Maybe its just me, but it seems like less of a grind as well...more XP/GP per fight than I'm used to in Dragon Quest. Also digging the Tactics menu, since it makes easier fights faster and less repetitive.
I finally got the Navi girl and opened up the battle records and quest system. Lord knows I love me some lists with percentage trackers.... I'm digging the localization, too. Lots of cute phrasings.
This game is charming me against my will.
