Thread: fucked up sleep schedule circlejerk

  1. #31
Thankfully I can at least sleep in. In HS I got up every Saturday and Sunday at 6:45 to go to work. I was a late sleeper then as well, so I would feel half-asleep for about 4 hours every day until I finally woke up.

  3. The best way to get a good sleep pattern:

Set your alarm for whatever time you would like to wake up, then instead of going to bed at the supposedly holy 8 hours before that (fyi for some people including myself 8 hours is oversleeping), go to bed when you're actually feeling sleepy. This might be at 4 or 5 in the morning, doesn't matter. Your alarm will go off, and you'll be tired for the next day. Do the same thing every night. Being tired, you'll go to bed earlier, just make sure you get up when your alarm goes off. In about a week or 2 your body will naturally adjust to waking up at that set time and you'll be tired enough to go to sleep at exactly the right time for you to get the amount of sleep thats optimal for you.

I wake up at 7:30am everyday and go to bed around 1-2am. I hardly ever have problems getting to sleep and waking up in the morning is easy too.

This works great. Best way to get your body on schedule. I set 3 alarms on my cell phone each with different ringers which go off at alternat times. My snooze button can not interfere because I have outsmarted it by setting the alarms for odd times. Those bastards. Problems only arise when I get so used to an alarm sound that I can sleepwalk to my alarm; turn it off; then go back to bed with no conscious recollection of what I had done. After all; I was asleep (and probably "King of New York")

Unfortunately for me there is always a reason for me to go into work around 11am and end up closing the place (1-2am). It randomly happens in the middle of a very busy week and when I get my day off, I sleep until I'm ready to wake up. Thus I have fucked my sleep schedule. Honestly it depends on how solid your daily or weekly schedule is. My "weekend" doesn't start until Sunday night/Monday and I base my entire week on the business for that particular week. I might get 2 days off (back to back if I'm lucky) in a week depending on what has been planned and if I need to supervise. By the same token there is always something to work on once you're there and immersed in the flow of business. Hospitality business = emergency medical field. Someone always needs attention and it is always better for everyone that they receive it promptly and heedfully.

  6. Thread is funny. dakidski's alarm clock scavenger hunt is awesome.

I was unemployed a few years ago and did this thing where every day I'd sleep in later than the day before, until eventually I was all the way back to where I started. I looped around like this probably 15 to 20 times. I had lots of money saved up, so it was no biggie. It was rad.

  7. Being unemployed for 10 months was so fucking awesome.

I miss being unemployed and in college.

This whole real job thing sucks.

  9. I'm up every night until 2-3 AM and usually get up by 9 the next morning.

  10. For about six months, I'd go to sleep about about 5 AM and wake up at maybe 1 PM if I was lucky. In the past week, I've gotten back into a regular sleep schedule (going to sleep at about 2 AM and waking up at about 10 AM).
