  5. Flying Daggers was much better than Hero. Didn't like Hero at all.

  6. They're all the same movie anyway.

  8. Hero was okay. House of Flying Dagger was better. This one looks ... and we all know what that means ... cool.

How are they destroying Chinese cinema?

  10. the large and maybe unwarranted success of Hero and House of Flying Daggers in the international film market has compelled all of China's top directors to "sell out" and start making costume dramas. I'm not saying that Hong Kong Action or Asian movies in general has ever been exceptionally artful, but they were mostly made for Chinese audiences and have a sense of culture. These films are basically fake art films made for Western audiences with the hope of winning the best foreign picture oscar, and usually bomb terribly in China. There's alot of rage amongst international film buffs about Hollywood lobbies destroying local film industries in other countries, but it's even more depressing if it's completely voluntary.

Seriously, these movies aren't that good. The plot is usually incoherent and a little dumb, the dialogue is usually extremely anacronistic, and the martial arts choreography is not that great.
