Thread: Controversial videogame statements.

  1. Ocarina of Time is a shitty, ugly, boring game. It always has been.

Dream Factory is an awesome developer. Their games have always been underrated.

  2. Games that try to focus on plot never rise above the level of cheesy pulp novels and generally fall well below that standard. This is what happens when you get a bunch of computer-oriented geeks to write your stories.

    This includes Final Fantasy VI.

    And Planescape: Torment.

Sonic 3 is a great game. Sonic & Knuckles is not. Combining them doesn't change this.

2D fighters are dying because they disappeared so far up their own asses that nobody outside of the hardcore could bring themselves to care any more.

Konami's music games are in danger of going this way as well.

The AD&D ruleset is shitty for videogames and there's absolutely no reason to use it outside of the branding.

Contra and Castlevania were both better on the Genesis than the SNES.

  3. Koji Igarashi killed Castlevania.
    Treasure is overrated.

  4. The PSP has more worthwhile games than the DS.

Quake 3 is, by miles, the best multiplayer FPS today.

Emulation can be and often is better than the "real thing".

    Everything sethsez said is true.

  5. daggerfall was a buggy game with a lot of bland, genenric randomly generated content, quit worshiping it because you are nostalgic about the stuff that didnt work in the game in the first place(ok this is more pointed at tesforums than here, but still)

wow limits character customization because their target audience would be confused by it.

guild wars actually has a stupider playerbase than wow, i didnt even think stormfront was that bad.

people hate on link because they are not confident in their sexuality.

god of war's story isnt that good, it just bolts on the greek setting to a generic revenge/quest story to pretend to be deep.

jrpg's should have quit after chrono trigger.

gta games are ugly and have bad gameplay, but people still play them because they want to pretend they have balls.

    pokemon games arent very good.

hit points are a convention that holds rpg's back. so are unbreakable weapons, armor that never wears down, being able to heal fully in combat from drinking a potion or eating food, point based experience systems, and lack of diseases.

    I concur.

And will go further, all of the Elder Scrolls games are piles of crap. They have improved since Arena, but they're still boring, meandering games.

The DS has more games worth playing on a portable system. Most of the PSP library would be better served on the PS2.

Daggerfall was all the bad parts of a MMORPG without any of the good parts.

god of war's story isnt that good, it just bolts on the greek setting to a generic revenge/quest story to pretend to be deep.
God of War's story is exactly what I had in mind when I said game plots suck, actually. To everyone who says it's like a Greek tragedy: no, it fucking isn't.

gta games are ugly and have bad gameplay, but people still play them because they want to pretend they have balls.
They're fun to mess around with in a sandbox sort of way, but actually playing through the missions is dull.

hit points are a convention that holds rpg's back. so are unbreakable weapons, armor that never wears down, being able to heal fully in combat from drinking a potion or eating food, point based experience systems, and lack of diseases.
Games, even RPGs, are not real life and should not attempt to replicate it.

  8. Twilight Princess is the worst Zelda game. It's fucking terrible.

  9. Sandbox games suck.

Breakdown is a fun game if you give it a chance.

Black is a fun over the top FPS. If you take the story seriously you have mental problems.

Game magazines suck due to the fact they(the writers) take themselves as a serious journalists, looking to find some tidbit of info that noone else knows about. Theres no hidden story behind a game or its development.

The Playstation ushered in a generation of shitty games and lazy ideas.

N64 had games that were more fun than the PS1.

Playstation is an overrated hype machine. And it started with the PS1 and has grown to legendary status with the PS3.

Catering to the Mainstream has ruined gaming forever.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  10. The DS has more games worth playing on a portable system. Most of the PSP library would be better served on the PS2.
    That's also true.

Xexex will never be on a console. =/
