Thread: Official Left 4 Dead Thread (Parts 1 & 2)

  1. Also his is why you play with friends. They don't act like buttclowns. Except Razor.

  2. The fun from the game doesn't come from shooting zombies, the fun of the game comes from playing online with other people. If you aren't playing this game with 2 or 3 other people on expert, you're playing it wrong, and you're not going to see anything special in it.
Certainly wouldn't have hurt them to retool the difficulties to not be retarded. Advanced is too easy, Expert is "too hard." I'm hoping most of that is simply because we're playing the first two levels of the first movie, though.

There aren't enough zombies on Advanced, and the damage is a bit low. On expert the FF damage (and the rest of the damage) is a bit high.

If Advanced kept similar zombie numbers/boss zombie numbers/enemy health and reduced the damage output from both enemies and ESPECIALLY FF I think Advanced would be the way to play and Expert would be the "spike nails through dick" difficulty that would still be incredibly rewarding to finish.

I mean, I've still only finished expert with one group, and only one guy made it out, and that's only 2/5ths of that level, so I don't know how the fuck you'd ever make it through the whole thing on Expert.

  6. Alright, I'll give it a shot online on Tues. probably (no time tonite - it's must-see TV)
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

  7. You might not be able to get online with the demo on Tuesday.

And really, having someone who sucks on your team can make it more fun. When some jackass gets puked on and wanders blindly into a Smoker's line of sight, the game suddenly gets a hell of a lot more interesting.

Agreed. A perfect run in this game can be kinda boring, I'd rather rarely see the end then get to it constantly. All the times when my group has died partway through has been more intense and exciting then the times we cleared and everyone made it.

  9. I can't wait to see how the zombies play.

    The End is Near...

    November 17, 2008 - L4D Team

Less than four hours to go until Left 4 Dead goes live at the stroke of midnight (EST) on Steam, and that means the Valve Launch Box will be dragged out of its off-season home in Gabe Newell's tool shed.

What does the Launch Box do? When its keys and levers are turned and pulled in sequence, it emits clouds of dry ice, fires off klaxon noises, and finally, when you press the red button, releases games. And, because it's kept in Gabe Newell's tool shed and nobody ever bothers to check it for bee hives, bees. (If there's one thing that makes those things angrier than klaxon noises, it's dry ice!)

Like the release of the Orange Box this past October, the entire staff will be here tonight to celebrate. Unlike with the Orange Box release, we're hoping, the entire staff will not be attacked by as many bees.
    edit: Restart Steam, it's up!
