Fuck. Every time I argue how stupidly outlandish the shit in Kingdom is, someone pulls Temple of Doom out of their ass. I forgot how much goofy shit happens in that movie.

I think it all boils down to this:
I am proud to own copies of the previous Indy flicks. I will probably not pick this one up with it hits DVD.
It's not super-terrible by any stretch, but it's not up there with the others.
I don't own National Treasure, Sahara, or the Mummy movies, either.
Mummy Returns was retarded.

"Grit and realism"? The Indiana Jones movies have always been stories of the supernatural. One of the main ideas in the series is that Jones is ordained by God to set things right. How many bullet storms does he have to run through unharmed before you realize he's got more than a lucky hat working for him?
The movie was fun. It wasn't a five-star classic, but it was a good old-fashioned action movie with some cornball elements - as could be expected. It amazes me that some of the same people that praised garbage like Grindhouse are hypercritical about this movie. It's not that you don't like it, it's some of the crazy nitpicking and claims that Indiana Jones should be "realistic."
I cannot believe people are bitching about the Fridge. I mean Jesus christ don't watch any of these movies then.
1941 was ten times the movie that this was.
Yeah, I said it.
Would any of you argue that half the shit we're complaining about wouldn't be such an issue if the shit were just done well?
The gophers didn't bother me that much, but the rest of the CG really did look like a student project. If the scenes were made better, I think I would have been much happier. Marion could have driven onto the tree, but then just have the tree break off into the water. The water falls could have been fine, if the last one wasn't so frickin huge. Same with the script. Good acting can make up for a bad script. Sadly, this movie had both bad acting and a bad script.
Was this pre screened? I feel with a few tweaks here and there, it could have been much better.
