They DID? Are you talking wrinkle removal or some other de-aging process?
If so, lol indeed. That's just sad.
Yeah, I thought that was pretty stupid too. And Mutt's some punk kid, there's no way he had the money for a plane ticket for both himself and a fucking motorcycle. You know Indy got stuck paying for them both.-How do you get a motorcycle on a passenger plane and bring it to South America? And then they barely even used it!

I'm 90% positive about the retouching on Indy's face. There was something going on anyway. In a couple of the scenes when he was standing around with the Russians it looked like his head didn't belong on his body. I think they blurred out wrinkles and tried to give him a youthful glow. Then when he is in the background his face is all craggy again.
If you're going to complain about that, how did the motorcycle start right back up after sliding on its side like that? The spark would've been flooded and it would have taken a lot of gurgly half starts to get it going again. but it was a movie and it would've been less exciting, so I DIDN'T GIVE A DAMN.

Don't put all the blame on Lucas. Spielberg's the man who decided against traditional special effects.
When first approaching the latest "Indy," director Steven Spielberg considered dusting off his old-school approach.
"He thought maybe we should just go back to the way we did things before, like matte paintings on glass and things like that," said visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman. "We entertained that idea for a little bit, but we realized we could serve the story better by using our digital tools."
The old tricks + new special effects would have been a killer combo.
