A lot of the movies and shows from our childhood were awesome when they came out but totally suck now.
I'm not saying it was incredibly awesome or that it beats the other three, but it's not nearly as bad as some people are making it out to be.
My father liked three movies the whole time i knew him: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Jurassic Park, and Toy Story. That was it.
Agreed, but I'd honestly put this one around the same area as Temple of Doom. Ford was better in Temple but that god awful whiny as shit annoying motherfucker wanted to punch her in the face and grind her into tiny bits so I could more easily shit on her entire body at once even when I was child and saw the movie for the first time female co-star is the ultimate pendulum backswing.
It was weird watching IJ4, because on one hand it felt to me like Ford was getting used to the role again as the movie went on but that conflicted with the part of me that knew movies scenes aren't filmed in the order they're seen onscreen. The opening scene was terrible, and I don't mean the gophers or anything, I'm referring to Ford's acting and lines which made him seem like he was auditioning for the role of a random grumpy old man who was most definitely not Indiana Jones. Then as the movie went on he settled more and more into it until the final scene where his smirk and walk seemed to have finally returned to their once-natural state.
But really, the biggest problem I had was that the movie wasn't written like the original movies but was instead written like the Indiana Jones videogames. Whereas Ford played a tough, pulp fiction archeologist that was in search of relics and sometimes a legend turned out to be true, the games and IJ4 are more about a random action guy that actively chases magic items. (Yes, I'm aware that if you wanted to be clever you could say those two mean the same thing, but there is a difference.)
So yeah, I liked it. It had issues but oh well.
You can eat a big bowl of shit.
I think the problem with the movie is it's completely and utterly forgetable. I keep forgetting that I actually saw it. It never does anything to stick in my mind, even in a negative way like Temple of Doom did. It was just bland and had nothing good about it, ripping off the previous scenes in the series only to do them worse. Hell, it rips off the Mummy, which was an Indy rip to begin with, with the turncoat character, only it was actually much better done in the Mummy. The villain was throwaway, the plot didn't matter (it was full of holes), the crazy guy... so what? I'll never see it again and I doubt many others will either. I think it was too bland even for kids.

Good. I'll see you later then.
