Usually there is non-compete clause in any sales agreement to prevent such a thing.

It's kind of hard to do, when Blockbuster sells new/used videogames and movies. I guess they could specify that Blockbuster isn't allowed to make any spin-off stores, for some amount of time?

    Yea, good luck with that.

  5. There were two nearby the University of Florida and they seemed really reasonably priced, and even sold DC/NES/SNES/Sat/Gen stuff. This is terrible.

Totally different type of place, but the owner of a local Panini's let the name be bought out so that he could rename the place after himself and own it completely. Another Panini's then opened down the street.

So I would say that it's possible but it depends on the contract and maybe type of business.

Don't worry, I am sure there are lawyers out there who charges $500/hr to get this done.

  8. That sucks Rhino has been bought out. There are about 5 or so here in Jacksonville and have found numerous deals throughout the years of shopping there (two copies of Dragon Force for $7 each, Suikoden II for $30, a bunch of decent games for like $7, etc)

Well hell. Out of curiosity, where was it?

It's fun driving out to Friso or whatnot to hit a Gamecrazy. I've been to the other one, but I can't remember exactly where it was. There's a little shop called Game Trade that I ran across in Mesquite over the weekend. They have a fair amout of stuff, even some older things. I do like what the Movie Trading Company is doing now with the retro stuff. The one nearest me even had a pile of Atari games.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.

  10. GameCrazy is the only game store near my house. I can see why you'd drive so far to it.

Hell, a cute girl told me Trace Memory was on sale for $12 at that store. I can't see why anyone wouldn't drive out to a place like that.
