Oh. Fancy. I hate having to go to mymessages.com or whatever to receive a picture message. The future is now.

Also: I saved a link to gmail on my home screen so I'm not using pop whatever. Seems to work without any vanishing messages. I'll check imap out next time I'm at a computer.

  2. So does applecare cover batteries? I hear conflicting reports of 1 year this, and defective that blah blah.

Its not that the battery life sucks, its that both the meter on the battery and the counter on the macbook both tell me i got a good chunk of battery life left, and without warning whatsoever, itll just die, no warning about low battery, nothing.

  3. Well, in two days, my old white G5 iMac will be replaced by a 24" 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo iMac. Got work to pick it up for me via the refurbs Apple currently has priced at the new price of the next-lower 20" model. Rumor going around is the refubs Apple seems to have a lot of right now are actually new units that they're trying to clear out before the next revision comes.

(Which might be true, because I called recently to ask about the refurb 24" iMacs, and the lady at Apple I talked to made a comment about how "the model is actually brand new.")

So, if anybody was thinking about getting an iMac soon, check out Apple's online refurbs. Any-day-now updates really aren't supposed to be all that exciting beyond the typical minor bumps.

Calibrate it again maybe? Charge it up all the way, then run the computer till the thing shuts off. Let it rest for a few hours then charge it all the way up again. Just in case you didn't know.

You can also look at the System Profiler and look at charge cycle and health of battery. it seems Apple looks at that when deciding on replacing. I guess all this could be YMMV

Wow, didn't know that. Good info.

  8. Resolution to my problems: Apple finally replaced my harddrive, the geniuses at the store were nice, helpful but useless. The HD was bad, and after spending 20 minutes confusing the girl on apple support with all my symptoms, i got to talk to an engineer, who, after ruling out faulty ram finally agreed with me and forced an HD replacement.

Which the guys at the apple store gladly did for me. I love/hate being right. It sucks trying convince other people I am right.

Anyhow, upgraded to leopard to get boot camp running again and repaired my portable HD so my backup exists again.

  9. Fuck Apple for still not fixing the image sequence loading bug in QT pro months later.

You would think with it being one of their main options they might fucking beta test that.

  10. I am having a problem deleting a video file off my external hdd for some reason. I encoded an .AC3 and .M2V file for a dvd. The .AC3 file was able to be deleted, but for some reason, it keeps saying the .M2V file is in use. As far as I can tell, there are no applications open, and I have restarted and shut down, and I still cannot empty the trash with the .M2V file in it. What the hell is going on?

Never mind. I just opened it up with Quicktime and then shut Quicktime down and was able to empty the trash. Weird shit.
