Why would you be running Boot Camp without an external harddrive? It specifically tells you that it's designed for a seperate drive.
Boot Camp ate my fucking HD. I fucked up and didn't prepare properly. When I started it, allocated the minimum 5GB, and had it partition, I restarted when it said to. Nothing happened. Now I have GB missing and Disk Utility insists that nothing is wrong. Boot Camp assistant doesn't think anything is wrong either, and now simply tells me that I don't have enough free space to run it anymore (since my previous 11GB free is now 6GB free)
The hell do I do? I have no backup device so I cannot reformat, I'll lose everything.

Why the hell does it tell you that you can partition your own, then? I probably misread, since I assumed it was like the old boot camp in that it was fine being on the same drive.
Is there any way to undo this without reformatting?
Yes, I'm complaining. Wah wah it's all I do whatever. I lost five gigs of HD space and can't find a way to recover it, sorry for asking in a support area.
When it gets brought up every time I'm not a rosy ray of sunshine, it gets a little old. I'm asking for help, not whining.
Do they really expect you to use an external drive for it now? I thought that was just Time Machine. I only used the beta version that was available for 10.4, but that one was fine with hanging out on multiple partitions on the same drive. I guess they're covering their asses for when this kind of thing happens. And, well, it does. It really sucks and there's probably not a lot you can do. I think that the lesson here is to expect to have to format when you partition drives.![]()

Try going all the way through it and running the format/remove windows drive process. If you have to, even see if you can make a new/small partition.
