We didn't get the epilogue of ADWD (and, also, the two Arya chapters). I'm guessing that Littlefinger is displacing someone from the epilogue and it actually makes sense if so. Showing up and killing Kevan after a few episodes of him "righting the ship" as it were. That's the only motivation Mr. Chaos really needs to do it. Then he can head to the Vale, grab some troops, and mop up Winterfell.

Aside from those missing pieces, though, book and show fans are on the same page - it's all theory now.
