Thread: Game of Thrones

  1. It wasn't recapping, though, it was people coping with the consequences of what happened last season, and that's important to show. Things can't just move forward without allowing the events of last season's finale to breathe and sink in for the characters.

  2. I needed those 5 minutes. It's been almost a year since the show was last on. The refresh was much needed. Plus it was ONLY 5 minutes.

  3. Did they really have to ruin the sweet tittays with the old haggard ones?

    Exactly

I'm usually not one to bitch about pacing and set up. I'm pretty sure that if I were to look back a few pages in this thread I'd see me defending last season's slow build.
But that's the thing, there was a build. This episode was a lot of people standing around discussing what previously occured. The episode was already truncated due to the overly long "what happened previously" opening. In 45 minutes, there was about 5 minutes devoted to moving forward. That's ridiculous.
Exactly. I feel like they are just filling space - there were so many scenes of garbage filler that really could have waited for a different episode or not at all. Like, Jaime and Cersei's whole talk - how many times have they had this exact same scene in the past seasons? And I liked seeing tyrion and stuff but was the whole walk through the city even necessary? they were like "oh its so dangerous here, ho ho ho" and here they are, walking around like rich dudes with too much time on their hands? Arya's storyline went from a really cool, interesting plot point to some rehashed star wars garbage. not my thing. And where was littlefinger?????
The Sansa part was good - but
    W H E R E D I D T H E D O G S G O? They disappeared mid-battle lol.

  6. The whole Dorne / Sand Snakes plot line is abhorrent and easily the biggest disappointment so far. I can't believe NOBODY at HBO said, "Hey guys, this sucks. This sucks REALLY BAD, we shouldn't do that."

Yes it was necessary. He's doing recon so he can figure out how to turn the city around. They have a pretty insightful conversation.

Like frog said there's a lot of reactions to what just happened. Jaime showed up with Cersei's dead daughter, how do you think they would react? At the wall, you think those loyal to Snow would just walk away? They wanted to bust some heads in suicide, but thankfully someone with a brain is with them. There's a lot of context to handle.

oh gosh yeah i forgot about that because i was getting a snack during that part. I DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE OR WHY IT MATTERS

I mean, I get why cersei and jaime are sad together but it seems like there is 0% character development on both of them since Cersei got "shame, shame, shamed." I get it, they are both demoralized and miserable, but it's really not necessary to rehash that every episode.

The whole John Snow plot point is fine, I know people really love that character so whatever gives them hope, I guess. At least that part is advancing in some sort of forward direction.

  9. I thought it was a big deal to see Tyrion finding the city on fire, quickening Dany's trip back to 7 kingdoms. I assume that Dany will get this Khal's army as a bonus once the dragons show up to roast the party.

  10. that Tyrion line about, "We might be here for awhile." Lol

    Shots fired at GRRM...Burn city.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.
