I remember thinking the first billion times I heard Catherine Wheel, "she sure does have a deep voice". Then I said it out loud once and it turns out it's not named after a chick.

Wishville is their shittiest album by far, although I really like Sparks Are Gonna Fly, too. On Ferment and Chrome they played an unusually busy and aggressive style of dream pop; it was clear they'd spent more time learning to play their instruments than a lot of their peers. Ferment in particular is really well-rounded and doesn't have much in the way of filler.

I stumbled across this black metal record a few days back and am smitten with it; a bit surprising given my total apathy towards the genre these days. The musicianship is absurd. Shame the unneeded vocals so often get in the way of the good stuff. Shit like this makes me want to smash my guitars to pieces and just give up.
