What Are You Listening to? Part 2

Let me explain why this is the song of the year, and correct me if I am wrong. One it's talking blues, who does talking blues any more? Two it's talking blues pop, did Miley invent a genre? When I first heard it I thought it was shit and Macauly Culkin was doing the cigarette scarred talking. But three, the most important, in this song you get to hear someone work out their relationship problems vocally to themselves. And considering how unconventional and aloof this generation is, that's pretty damn cool.

Strong words? I don't even know... did anything great come out this year? Everything I was excited about were re-issues or demos. That new Coheed record is pretty good, but not mind blowing ROTY material.

I'll be back to listen after I finish up Twelve Reasons to Die. Production so sick it makes me reassess most everything I think about hip-hop.

I don't really make a point to listen to new music. There is so much shit out already I haven't heard, I don't see the point in restricting it to the current year. My big discoveries were that early Blondie is really good pop rock, and that "Ambient" is an entire musical genre with a lot of great shit in it which is much more involved and busy than the name suggests.
